David Greenaway, House Manager

How did you get started in the restaurant industry?
I actually started out as a line cook for a small pizza joint past the grade in Atascadero. That was 20 years ago and it taught me a lot about work ethic. From there I went into bussing, serving and continued to progress through all the stations of a restaurant. Before Luna Red, I was actually a manager at Novo. They also have a great team and my time there showed what this company as a whole can create while still maintaining their own vision and culture.

What do you enjoy most about working at Luna Red?
I love the people and the culture. Team camaraderie makes a huge difference in creating a great environment for our guests and ourselves.

What's your favorite cocktail here?
The Tea Time is a refreshing, herbaceous cocktail that I really enjoy. Although my go-to has been a classic Aperol Spritz or Negroni.

What's your favorite dish?
Rockfish tacos are so good - crunchy, savory and satisfying. However the Chicken 'n Waffles during brunch have made their way up to #1 recently; nothing like something sweet and savory. Can't go wrong with comfort food.

Anything on the horizon you're really excited about?
We're working on something exciting for our outside bar. Ideally we'd love to showcase more margaritas, mezcal/tequila flights, etc. It's still in the works, but Beto, our Bar Manager, and I are working on bringing it to fruition. On a personal level, my girlfriend is in nursing school so we just try to relax when we're both not busy.

Favorite Industry Bar?
This is more of a casual spot but Whiskey & June in Atascadero makes great cocktails and has a stellar whiskey list.
