September News

We're excited to announce that we've been awarded the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 2019!

This award is given to locations that offer at least 90 selections, featuring a curated assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price & style.

We chatted up our Wine Manager, Kaci Taylor, to learn a bit more about what she does!

How did you start out in the wine industry?

I decided to take wine business courses a couple years ago and realized I didn't like the business aspect that much. I started working at Luna and really enjoyed the atmosphere here. When Luna's owners, Robin Covey and Shanny Covey, offered to put me through a master sommelier course, I learned a lot more and appreciated the industry more.

How do you go about selecting the wines we have?

I focus on curating selections that align with what we prioritize on the culinary side. We have a produce purveyor who visits farmers markets 3x a week and are Surfrider-certified as an ocean friendly restaurant, so focusing on sustainability, natural, biodynamic selections is really important.

What's your perfect summer wine?

I really like our Gruner Veltliner that's from the Santa Cruz Mountains. This selection is a bit different than your classic Veltliner because of its origin. It has a more round-mouth feel and is a bit more oak-like as opposed to being the classically lean & crisp experience.

We're now offering delectable selections for your late night cravings including our tacos, rockfish & albacore ceviche, bacon wrapped dates and our nosh board (above). Available starting at 10pm every Friday and Saturday night!

Gather with us as we break out the big paella pan to create some authentic, delicious paella on our patio. Sip on sangria and enjoy live music ranging from americana, reggae, brazilian acoustic, and bossa nova.

Sundays from 2pm - 4pm.

It’s safe to say San Diego based Singer-Songwriter, Christian Taylor, was born into music. Grandson of The Ventures drum legend Mel Taylor, as well as the Las Vegas lounge act pioneer, jazz musician and first lady of rock n roll, Mary Kaye, Christian is forging his own musical path. Christian blends a love for soul, blues, and americana into his own unique raw sound, relying mostly on his raspy, soulful voice to wow the crowds.

See Christian Taylor's performance on September 29th during our Paella on the Patio from 2p - 4p! Enjoy live music & a plate of paella with a glass of house made sangria.

Mint + Craft's community dining experience is here with a special guest chef - Michael Avila of Novo Restaurant!

On the menu, you'll notice some intriguing selections like oxtail and candy cap panna cotta.

His motivation behind such dishes?

"To inspire people to take a risk at the grocery store or restaurant. As Americans we get too caught up in our comfort zone of what we know and shy away from what we are unfamiliar with. I feel that it keeps us from trying some truly amazing flavors."

He'll be preparing more familiar dishes as well - like a market melon + burratasalad, green tomato gazpacho, and seared local halibut.
